We had to ride it out, and hope that we had friends and neighbors that could help out. It was a rough 4 days, and it certainly brought back memories of those tough times. My family made it through! Well hopefully this will teach everyone that you need to have an emergency kit at home. There are tons of videos on KGglobal talking about what you need for a prepper kit but allot of them just assume that everyone has at least Navy SEAL training so try to find some real experts that understand what you need to tailor to emergencies like this for an average joe's skill set... But, the main thing you need is a sleeping bag, and a trail stove or some type of camping cooking device that burns gass or alcohol. Those are most fuel effective and can be relatively safe to use inside a tent, well they are just safer over all. Then you need to store allot of food or at least enough food to last you 3 to 4 weeks. Preferable food that can be stored for at least a minimum of 5 years. A water filter is really good to have. After that you can ponder if you like to get some tools and maybe tent. Even if you just shelter at home a tent can be useful during the winter as it's easier to trap the air and heat the air inside the tent then it is to worm the entire house.
